Hello Eagle Families,
As we quickly approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud we are of our students’ performance and dedication. We have seen tremendous growth over the past few months, and because of the collective effort of our students, teachers, and your support at home, our quest for a school grade of an "A" is looking very obtainable!
While many of our students have finished their assessments, our 7th and 8th graders are still testing this week. We have several critical exams remaining, including Civics and 8th-grade Science which will be testing Tuesday, May 19th. Followed by Algebra on May 20th. We want to encourage these students to keep pushing forward, continue working hard, and showcase the incredible knowledge they have built all year.
This Thursday, May 21st, we will be reviewing the student goals and recognizing those that achieved their individual Learning Gains. Then Friday we will be placing our pom-poms in the “A” again to see if we can fill the “A”. If the students fill the “A” we will be celebrating their success on the last day of school with ice cream for everyone and a grade level pep rally with prizes, games, etc. We are so excited with their current success and are looking forward to a celebration.
The following week we will be completing our Final Exams. Please note that there are exams each day, May 26th-29th. Our last exam will be the morning of the 29th, which is our final day of school, followed by a grade level pep rally to celebrate our Learning Gain success and final ACR. So please plan accordingly as you gear up to start the summer fun.
Tomorrow, May 18th, we will celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students during our End-of-Year Award Ceremonies. If your student is receiving an award, you should have already received an invitation. Please note the important logistical details for tomorrow's events:
- All students attending should dress nicely.
- Parking for the 6th (1:50pm) and 7th-grade (2:50pm) ceremonies will be located at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center (CPAC).
- All parents and guests must enter through the gym lobby, which is located just past the main front office entrance. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to get everyone seated so we can begin promptly.
- The 8th grade ceremony will be held at CPAC that evening starting at 6:00pm.
Beyond the test scores and awards, we are exceptionally proud of the overall academic and behavioral conduct displayed by our entire student body. Our students have shown up with positive attitudes, respect for one another, and a true commitment to excellence.
It has been an absolutely amazing school year at Punta Gorda Middle School. Every single student has grown in their own way, and we want each of them to take a moment to celebrate their individual successes.
Thank you for partnering with us to make this year so memorable and successful. Let's make these final two weeks great!
