Message from Discipline

Dear PGMS Families,

As we complete our first month of school, thank you for your continued support! Please review these important reminders with your child:

• Tardies: Students must arrive at school and each class on time. Students arriving late to school must sign in at the front office. Three tardies to the same class will result in a major referral.
• SmartPass: Students receive four passes each day, with four minutes allowed for each pass. Being out for more than four minutes will result in a minor. Being out for more than 10 minutes will result in a major referral. Families will be contacted if a student is missing too much instructional time.
• Minor Infractions: When a minor is issued, the teacher will contact the parent or guardian. Three minors will result in a major referral, and a dean will contact the family. Each additional minor will also be processed as a major referral. Minors reset at the end of each semester.
• Badges: Students must wear their badge and lanyard every day. Temporary badge stickers are available each morning at the bus-side and parent pick-up entrances. Every fourth sticker will result in disciplinary action. Badge sticker counts reset each semester. Students will receive a second badge at the beginning of the second semester. Replacement badges and lanyards may be purchased for $5.
• Dress Code: Students must follow the CCPS dress code. Students who are out of dress code will receive a slip to be signed and returned. Significant violations will require a change of clothes, and the student will remain in ISS until appropriate clothing is provided.
  • Bike shorts are not permitted.
  • Shorts must reach at least mid-thigh.
  • Shirts must cover the back and midriff and may not be tied in the back.
  • Blankets are not permitted.
  • Please do not spray perfume, cologne, or deodorant between classes or in open areas.
• Electronics: Electronic devices must remain stored in backpacks. The first time a device is taken, the student may pick it up at the end of the day. After that, a parent or guardian must pick it up. Three electronic-device minors will result in a major referral.
• School-Issued Devices: School devices are for academic use only. Student activity is monitored through Lightspeed.
• Food and Drinks: Energy drinks are not permitted. Outside drinks must be finished before exiting the cafeteria. Only water is allowed in classrooms.
• Bus Behavior: The CCPS Code of Student Conduct also applies to behavior at the bus stop and on the school bus. Students must behave in an appropriate, safe, and courteous manner both on and off the bus. Certain behaviors are considered zero-tolerance offenses and may result in immediate disciplinary action. Please review pages 25–27 of the Code of Student Conduct for complete bus expectations.
