Quarter 1 is well underway, and our students are working hard each day as we push toward academic excellence. As we navigate through the quarter, we want to continue to place a special emphasis on the first of our “A” focuses: Attitude.
A positive attitude shapes how students approach challenges, interact with peers, and view their own potential. Coming to school each day with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn, sets the foundation for everything we do. Thank you for partnering with us at home to encourage a positive, resilient attitude in your students!
This Wednesday will be our first school-wide data chat! All students will analyze their data, record their goals, and focus on their individualized success plan during their English and Math classes (Civics and Science will be at a later date). Students will reflect on their PM3 performance from the end of last school year and set their Learning Gain goal for PM3 at the end of this current year. They will also analyze their recent PM1 results to establish a clear starting baseline.
Our school-wide focus will be on Learning Gains again this year, as this gives us the best representation of each student’s personal growth. Learning Gains measure progress by comparing a student’s performance on last year's end-of-year assessment directly to their performance on this year's final assessment. Our universal goal is to show a full year's worth of academic growth and knowledge acquisition. For students that are joining our PGM family without a PM3 score from last year, teachers will help these students establish a goal that focuses on their personal proficiency measures. This too will allow them to see their individualized progress and performance growth. We want all students to take part in this event to help us strive to maintain our school grade of an “A”!
More detailed information regarding your student's specific goals and reflection sheet will be sent home later this week so you can celebrate their progress and support their targets together.
This Wednesday, September 16th is our next Early Release Day. Please ensure you have transportation arrangements in place.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with the early dismissal days, as these days play a vital role in our ongoing commitment to academic excellence. Following dismissal, our educators gather for professional learning sessions to hone their instructional skills and collaborate with grade-level and subject-area peers. This dedicated time allows our teaching teams to analyze student data, align strategies, and design impactful learning experiences that best serve every student on our campus.
Please take a moment to log into the parent portal with your student to review their current course performance, grades, and any missing assignments. Catching small gaps now ensures a strong finish to Quarter 1!
