Week of 8.18.25

Hello Eagle families!

The past week was busy, exciting, and I am sure a little overwhelming especially for our new to PGMS families. This newsletter serves as a general overview of some of the most important reminders shared with students last week, as well as important information for families. Thank you for your support and we look forward to a wonderful school year! We invite you to contact your child's teacher or the school with any questions or concerns so we can ensure success for all! Student Dress Code

Student dress code will be strongly enforced per our district’s Code of Conduct. Specifically, clothing must have sleeves and cover the body from shoulder to shoulder, one armpit across to the other armpit, and down to approximately mid-thigh. Undergarments must not be viewable. Rips, holes, or tears in clothing must be below mid-thigh. A sleeve is defined as the part of a garment that wholly or partly covers a person’s arm. Additionally, hats, headgear, including hoods, or sunglasses may only be worn when students are out of doors during school hours and may not conceal one’s identity. Student Identification

All students are required to wear their current ID badge with a breakaway lanyard. One was provided to every student. If they lose it in the first semester, or if you wish to purchase a back-up, they can buy one for $5.00 before school outside the cafeteria or see Mrs. Riddell in the media center. Students will receive their second free ID for semester two. Students will not be permitted to enter campus without an ID. If they arrive without it, they will be directed to get a temporary sticker badge or purchase a replacement when they enter the building at either the BUS and/or PPU entrance.

Cell Phone Policy

In adherence to HB 1105, students are not permitted to use any wireless electronic devices on campus during the school day in elementary and middle schools. This means students who have cell phones and/or electronics (to include but not limited to earbuds, headphones, smart watches, etc.) must to put them in their backpack until the end of the day. As always, if you need to reach your child with important messages or transportation changes, please call the school at (941) 575-5485.

Transportation

Bus

Where’s the Bus®

  • Where’s the Bus® allows you to see the location of your child's bus on your smartphone, tablet, or PC. Full access is FREE per household on the App Store, Google Play, or at WherestheBus

NOTE: Parents are allowed to create an account only if they can validate their student’s information. The suggested validation method is to prompt a parent for the student’s birth date and student ID #. If the information entered does not match the Transportation student ridership database, the parent will not be able to create an account.

  1. From your computer go to WherestheBus
  2. Click on PARENTS on the left-hand side to set up an account. Read the fine print directions on the web page.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to select “Charlotte County (FL)”.
  4. Enter your information.
  5. Enter your child's birth date and student ID number.
  6. If you have other students in the household you can enter them using the same logon.
  7. Confirm these are your students and you’re ready to go !!

Parent Pick-up and Drop-off

Before school:
Parent drop-off is single lane only. This right lane process increases safety for students and staff.

After school:
Parent pick-up is double lane, so be alert for student movement in the loading lanes. When student dismissal begins, students may load into parked cars in the first two lanes along the sidewalk without any whistle. Once all students have been dismissed from the building, and the first two lanes are loaded, ONE long whistle will indicate loading has stopped and cars will move. When the next group of cars have entered the pick up area and all are stopped completely to the curve, TWO whistles will sound and students may again resume loading. There should be no car movement while students are loading, as well as no student loading when cars are moving.

Boys and Girls Club Before and After Care

Students may arrive on campus at 8:35 am. Boys and Girls Club is available if you need to drop off your student earlier than 8:35am and pre-registration is required for $25 per month, which also includes afterschool care.
