Hello Eagle Families,
The week we have been preparing for is finally here! This week, our students will begin their end-of-year testing. This is their opportunity to show off all the hard work, growth, and "A" effort they have put in throughout the school year.
Tuesday, May 12th is PM3 Reading and Thursday, May 14th is PM3 Mathematics. Remember the PM3 assessment is the final showcase of their achievement for the school year. These assessments help with understanding your students' performance levels while allowing for future support and instructional placement to continue to close learning gaps.
To ensure every student at Punta Gorda Middle School has the best possible testing experience, we ask for your partnership in getting your student to school on time and prepared to do their best. Please ensure your student is getting a full night’s rest. A well-rested brain is more focused and resilient. Also, a healthy breakfast is fuel for the brain. Students should eat before arriving or join us in the cafeteria for breakfast.
Remind your student that they are ready for this! We aren't looking for perfection, we are looking for their personal best and encouraging them to strive to achieve their individual learning gain goals. We are so excited to see what we achieve when we all aim to SOAR.
I would also like to ask for your assistance with ensuring that your student does not bring particular items to school that could cause distraction or harm. As previously requested, all liquid filled fidgets or toys should be left at home as these cause distractions in the classrooms and halls. We would also like to note that we have several individuals on campus with severe respiratory allergies and sensitivities. Because of this, perfumes, colognes, and body sprays are not allowed in the classrooms. We ask that students refrain from applying these products at school or bringing them in their backpacks. Strong scents can trigger allergic reactions or asthma attacks in others, and we want to ensure our air quality remains safe for everyone to breathe and focus. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff, so we appreciate your support.
I would also like to take a moment to send a HUGE THANK YOU to our PGMS PTO and all of the community members that helped make our Staff Appreciation Week absolutely amazing. Our entire staff was spoiled all week long and it would not have been possible without the preparation and hard work of our fantastic parents and Punta Gorda community. If you are looking to plug in and support PGM, please consider joining our PTO.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and our school community. It is going to be a great week. We will continue to update you on our success!
